The museum was built using traditional materials such as Tosa shikkui (a weather resistant lime plaster) and Tosa roof tiles. Its facilities include a hall equipped with a movable Noh stage. While it focuses on the fine arts, the museum is open to diverse forms of artistic expression, and it offers a variety of programs in areas including the performing arts and film.
